The Meaning of the Chi-Rho
The Chi-Rho (☧, pronounced kai-row /ˈkaɪroʊ/) is one of the earliest symbols of Christianity, formed by combining the first two Greek letters of Christos (Χ and Ρ), meaning "Christ."
It became a sign of victory, faith, and divine protection after Emperor Constantine reportedly saw it in a vision before battle, accompanied by the words “In this sign, conquer.” From that moment, the Chi-Rho represented strength through Christ — not by force, but through faith.
